While running back from Minnesota I checked the river flows and noticed that they all bumped up to perfect levels. Friday I took a coworkers husband out for steelhead and it didn't take long to tie into my first fish. This week has just been shy of outstanding! Despite a few days of high water on one river, low water on another and heavy foot pressure, it didn't stop the steelhead from biting. With my home river getting low and a hair clear, Creek Candy Beads were the trick the past two days, especially in the upper sections. Otherwise pink spawn sacs have done very well. This week has been shaping up to be a week for the record books. I spent Saturday and Sunday on the same river and while the river was a hair high and dirty Saturday I ended up going 3 for 5 and my buddy went 2 for 4. Sunday was a completely different story, after trying out some new hooks (which failed horribly) I ended up going 6 for 10 by 11am which included a run to the gas station for coffee. This fishing is going to continue to be hot until ice up (if it ever does.)

I met up with a good friend on the river today after a sub par day in the harbor yesterday. After a hectic two weeks, I was finally able to spend some time on the Milwaukee River Saturday. The first spot I hit produced a spunky steelhead and a big buck coho (both on spawn sacs). Sunday after spending the morning in the woods and not seeing anything I headed down to Racine to meet up with Jacek of team Jacek and Zibi for some harbor brown trout fishing.
