Guide Trip Give Away
During February I ran a contest at The Beef Jerky Outlet Store for one lucky winner to win a half day guide trip for spring steelhead. Out of the over 100 entries Jarred was the lucky winner. He asked if he could bring his buddy with and sure why not. We met up on the root this morning and of course there were two guys in the first spot I wanted to fish with 3 steelhead on the stringer. We hit two other spots before ending up in a spot on the lower section of the river.

Weekly Review 1-6-15
This past week has been outstanding on the rivers with a ton of steelhead a few brown trout being caught. Depending on the day, the fish were sitting on the edge of the water one day but then in current the next. I ran a half day trip today and my client and his son got into a real nice female brown and two steelhead. Despite a lot of slush on the river and everything freezing between the rod guides and line, they did a great job! It's looking like this will be the last w

Weekly Review 12-27-15
This past week started off red hot (view red hot steelhead article). But it didn't take long for all the rivers to flood out again. As of yesterday 12-26, both the Root and Milwaukee were blown out and the Oak Creek was extremely low. I spent the afternoon walking the Oak Creek with the fly rod and missed one buck brown and heard of a few other fish on beds but overall it was extremely slow. Christmas Day on the other hand I decided to take the boat out of McKlinley Marin

Rivers and harbors
After a hectic two weeks, I was finally able to spend some time on the Milwaukee River Saturday. The first spot I hit produced a spunky steelhead and a big buck coho (both on spawn sacs). Sunday after spending the morning in the woods and not seeing anything I headed down to Racine to meet up with Jacek of team Jacek and Zibi for some harbor brown trout fishing. At our first spot I missed two takedowns with a bobber and spawn. After an hour or so we decided to move spots.

Out of state Steelhead
With the low river conditions by me, I decided to take a day trip down to Trail Creek Indiana to meet up with fellow guide Justin Nguyen of Trail Creek Guide Service in search of some summer chrome. They are experiencing the same conditions as up here with very low water conditions but thanks to Justin's experience we were able to stick this nice female steelhead. It was also nice to meet their local game warden who was out giving tickets for trespassing. It's not what you kn

One long weekend
StartFragmentSaturday morning I met up with a buddy and his son to chase some chinooks in the rivers of S.E. Wisconsin. I decided going back to the same river I ran my last trip the previous weekend would be the best bet. Upon arrival I noticed something very wrong... There were NO fish! I told Todd and Tim that this wasn't right and I had a feeling the fall snaggers had been through and took all the fish off the beds. After another mile hike I got to a corner where I saw 5 g

Fall Kings are slowly starting to move in
I spent a few days eariler last week scouting a few rivers for an up coming trip and good thing I did. The first river didn't pan out so we spent some time casting and floating spawn in the harbor. With not a whole lot doing I decided it was time to go option C and hit another river. Luckly I decided to go that route. My clients hooked up with quite a few chinooks but were only able to land one female pushing 10lbs. Unfournetly my cell phone died so I couldn't take a goo
