June is nearing an end
Fishing the past two weeks has been solid between inland multi species and Lake Michigan. The Coho have scattered a little bit out of Racine but good numbers are still to be caught along with great numbers of Lake Trout. Big congrats to Bill who stuck a 20.1lb Laker on the 15th. Both Big Muskego and Wind Lake have been producing great numbers of Pike and Bass. There has been no shortage of small ones caught but there’s been two in the mid 30’s boated this week alone along

Steelhead Smackdown!!!!!
This past weekend was just a blast catching quality steelhead. Friday I met up with fellow Creek Candy Bead Company Pro Staffer Anthony Jewell and his buddy Henry. After missing two big browns in Mckinley Marina, we made a run down to the Root River. Despite the water still being dirty from the rain eariler in the week they both managed to stick two thick steelhead. Saturday I ran a full day with Matt, his brother and his dad. I had already planned on having to deal with

Outstanding two days of charters
Sunday was a blast out of Bender Park in Oak Creek, the morning charter went 10-15 with a mix of steelhead, brown trout, a 9lb coho and small chinook. I tried as hard as I could to find 1 laker for the slam with no avail. The PM charter went 8-11 (one shaker went back), fishing was a little slower to start as I gave them the option of going for a limit of 4-8lb fish or 1 or 2 big fish. They decided to go for broke and get a few big fish. I set up in 40fow and while settin

Salmon a rama 2016
These past 9 days have been possibly the longest ever for Salmon a rama. Between brutal winds and waves we still managed to put a bunch of fish in the boat with out loosing to much gear. So much happened though out the tournament that I don't even know where to start besides half way through I was about to come out of my skin from big fish either getting off while fighting them or getting knocked off by the net. But towards the end things started clicking and our batting aver

Saturday Morning Solo Run
Saturday morning I finally was able to get out early to get some morning darkness trolling in. After a few people said they rather sleep than go out at 0300 I casted lines and headed out to where I though the big kings were roaming. Luckily I was right. i started in 50fow with an 8 color and mag spoon and two dipsy divers with flasher fly combos. I was constantly marking fish from 50' out to 74' where my 8 color took off at 0400. After a 20min fight, the largest king year to

SU Open
Saturday started early, with the smell of two stroke coming from my Mercury 150, my two tournament partners and I started heading out to the staging area for our first Salmon Unlimited Open tournament out of Racine WI. At 0430, we got the green light from tournament control to blast off. I did not expect my 8mi run to go as quick as it did and now my patients was tested to the max, having to wait 10mins to set lines. At 0500, I started setting out our spread consisting of

White bass to bluegills
This past weekend I finally got to drop my new to me 19' sylvan in the water. Sunday I met up with a buddy on the rock river in search of white bass and walleyes. We motored from Fort Atkinson to Jefferson and started lighting up the white bass. Small minnows under a slip bobber and working the edge of the current was the trick. It was a blast fighting them on my 13Fishing Ambition rods. I decided to start casting a tandem jig and plastic set up on my 13Fishing Muse and all I

Weekend full of steelhead
While running back from Minnesota I checked the river flows and noticed that they all bumped up to perfect levels. Friday I took a coworkers husband out for steelhead and it didn't take long to tie into my first fish. Since Tony is brand new to steelheading I let him reel it in on my Raven Tackle 14' IM8 rod and Matrix fully ported reel. In the first spot we ended up getting 3 fish and in the second spot Tony finally hooked and landed his own steelhead! Saturday I ran a full

Guide Trip Give Away
During February I ran a contest at The Beef Jerky Outlet Store for one lucky winner to win a half day guide trip for spring steelhead. Out of the over 100 entries Jarred was the lucky winner. He asked if he could bring his buddy with and sure why not. We met up on the root this morning and of course there were two guys in the first spot I wanted to fish with 3 steelhead on the stringer. We hit two other spots before ending up in a spot on the lower section of the river.

Last ice trip of the season
Saturday i had the pleasure of running the last ice trip of the year in McKinley Marina. The goal was to get my client on a bunch of steelhead but the brown trout had other ideas. I ran every close to every rod in the top 6' of water with a mix of shiners and spawn sacs on. it didn't take long after setting up for the first automatic fisherman to pop off with a very nice 12lb brown. While my client was fighting that one, I looked up and a second automatic was on the verge
