Brew City Salmon Tournament

Saturday, August first I competed in my first Brew City Salmon Tournament hosted out of McKinley Marina in Milwaukee WI. After a new boundry was set preventing fishing within 200yrds from the gaps and pier heads, I decided to roll the dice and make a run 13mi south to the Oak Creek Power Plant. Shortly after arriving where I wanted to fish I had a short hit on my 3 color leadcore while setting rods. Once all rods were set I had another short hit on the 3 color and two trips on my downrigger. it wasn't until I went over a 20' reef my dipsy diver fired with a 5lb coho taking a J-plug. I didn't like what I was seeing where I was at so I decided to run up to what I call the trough in front of Metro filtration plant. Shortly after setting up again my downrigger fired with a nice 10lb brown trout. Shortly after sending that rod back out, it fired again with a 12lb brown. I decided to keep going north and work two 17' humps which paid off with a double header, a 6lb brown and a 19.5lb brown (where was that fish during Salmon a rama!!!) After getting a report of a few decent fish being missed in 70fow I decided to pull lines and run deep. I told my tournament partner, worse comes to worse we should be able to pick up a few lake trout. While working my way north, a nasty little storm moved in making trolling a living nightmare. With time ticking down I decided to pull lines and run North and back to shallow water in hopes to pick up a few smaller fish just for points. With no avail on that we called it a day and headed into weighin. Mark and I took 39th out of 96 boats with a total weight of 58lbs out of 5 fish.
