Last ice trip of the season
Saturday i had the pleasure of running the last ice trip of the year in McKinley Marina. The goal was to get my client on a bunch of steelhead but the brown trout had other ideas. I ran every close to every rod in the top 6' of water with a mix of shiners and spawn sacs on. it didn't take long after setting up for the first automatic fisherman to pop off with a very nice 12lb brown. While my client was fighting that one, I looked up and a second automatic was on the verge

Ice Fishing for steelhead
Even though this is a little late seeing all the ice is off the Root river due to recent warm weather and rain but just before it hit I had the pleasure of running the best guide trip of the winter. I met three guys on the root and showing them how to set a few automatic fishermen I got the three of them jigging and showed them how to use the vexliar's. i wasn't able to get all the lines set before the action started. They did a great job landing five steelhead in the firs

Trip to the UP of MI

The Friday night I got into Gogebic Co. park around 3:30 and set up for shallow water walleyes. After moving around jigging with a whole lot of nothing doing I decided to pull gear and call it a night. While pulling my second tip up I noticed there was a little extra weight on the line. Sur
