SU Open
Saturday started early, with the smell of two stroke coming from my Mercury 150, my two tournament partners and I started heading out to the staging area for our first Salmon Unlimited Open tournament out of Racine WI. At 0430, we got the green light from tournament control to blast off. I did not expect my 8mi run to go as quick as it did and now my patients was tested to the max, having to wait 10mins to set lines. At 0500, I started setting out our spread consisting of

From Coho's to Lake Trout
What a great weekend of trolling on the big pond. Saturday Lenny and I got into a few Chinooks and coho's with one of the Chins being a 14lber. Sunday I decided to run up to Milwaukee to get in on the coho action with Brittany and despite a slow start we ended up sticking 6 of them. Monday I brought a fellow Raven Tackle Pro Staffer out for his first trip of the year and after sticking a beautiful 10lb brown, Jarrett landed a smaller coho. While working out to deeper water an

Bluegill Bonanza
Today I made it out to a local inland lake with an old timer I fish with in search for bluegills and it was some of the fastest bluegill action I've ever seen. Between the two of us in 5 hours, we caught well over 100 bluegills and kept 38 between 7.5 and 9''. In addition to the bluegills we also landed a handful of bonus bass. I still have openings this month to get on this action. Don't forget this is a great way to get you kids into fishing. To book a trip click on th

White bass to bluegills part 2
The last weekend of April I get out both days for another white bass to bluegill combo. Saturday I took a good friend out to the rock river for her first time targeting white bass. With the water dropping close to 10 degrees from the week before, it really shut them down. We ended up with a handful of small saugers and Brittany had a lot of fun fighting a northern pike and two white bass on my 13 Fishing Muse while pulling minnows off the bottom. Sunday I took a co worker

Steelhead, Steelhead and more Steelhead
The last few weeks have been just shy of outstanding for steelhead. Despite high waters and having to buy my time in between river blow outs, the few days I have been on rivers have been action packed. Last week was a week of firsts with a client from MN who got his first Wisconsin Steelhead on the fly. Also another beginner came out and tied into her first two steelhead and got to fight one with the Raven 14' IM8. With the cold weather hanging around, I foresee the steel

What an excellent week of skating the fly
The water levels on one of my smaller rivers became perfect for steelheading. During the mornings we loaded up on steel with creek candy beads, spawn and jigs under floats in the deeper holes but during mid day the fish became more active and were chomping at the bit to eat small stone flies and egg patters. Best news from this week is there were no suckers! My larger rivers are coming down from flood levels at a rapid pace and will be fishable next week as long as we don'

High and low water steelhead
The last few days have been nothing short of a waiting game. We received a bunch of rain earlier last week causing all the rivers to flood out. The 17th, the smallest of the rivers I fish became fishable for a whopping one day but there was a nice batch of steelhead that moved in. I spent the first part of the day drifting spawn and creek candy beads. The first fish to strike was a healthy 7-8lb buck steelhead. After loosing a few other fish I finally stuck a chrome dime

Weekly Review 1-6-15
This past week has been outstanding on the rivers with a ton of steelhead a few brown trout being caught. Depending on the day, the fish were sitting on the edge of the water one day but then in current the next. I ran a half day trip today and my client and his son got into a real nice female brown and two steelhead. Despite a lot of slush on the river and everything freezing between the rod guides and line, they did a great job! It's looking like this will be the last w

Weekly review 12-17-15
This week was just shy of outstanding with fish being caught in the rivers and harbors. We got close to 2'' of rain the other night which put the Milwuakee and Root River out of range but another smaller river I fish dropped quick enough and a large amount of steelhead pushed in. The ticket was pink spawn sacs under my Raven float. Outlook for next week is nothing shy of phenominal. I still have a few days open and if you want to get tied into your first steelhead or brow

Action packed weekend
This weekend plus Monday was nothing short of outstanding. There were a bunch of fish caught and a bunch of first timers that tied into brown trout and steelhead. The first Saturday morning was my buddies kid who did a great job fighting a 5lb brown by himself. Later that day I hooked into a very nice steelhead and let my coworkers husband have fun fighting it on the centerpin. This was after he got to fight a big brown that popped off right before getting into the net. Sunda
